Sources, coverage, update times and calculation rules for the market tools.
Price, market cap, volume, rankings and 24-hour and 7-day changes come from CoinGecko’s USD top-50 market feed. Coin IDs are CoinGecko IDs. Prices are polled every two minutes. When available, the update time shown is CoinGecko’s source timestamp; otherwise it is when Cointrol accepted the response. Neither is an exchange trade time.
Historical candles come from Binance spot USDT pairs for the coins with an explicit pair mapping. Only completed hourly and daily candles are stored. Chart prices can differ from CoinGecko’s aggregated USD snapshot because the sources and quote currencies differ. Assets without a Binance mapping have no local candle chart.
Global market cap, volume and dominance come from CoinGecko; DeFi TVL comes from DefiLlama; Fear & Greed comes from Alternative.me. Global snapshots are grouped by UTC hour. The sources may have different underlying observation times.
Ingest rejects short or duplicate market batches, impossible prices and volumes, malformed or missing candles, and out-of-range global metrics. A rejected batch leaves the previous data in place. The market dashboard flags prices older than 15 minutes; the API returns source, accepted update time and a stale flag. Delayed data may still appear so its last known value remains visible.
Thirty-day correlation uses Pearson correlation of daily log returns. Returns are calculated only across consecutive UTC daily candles and aligned by date across the assets in the matrix. At least 20 shared return dates are required. Volatility is the sample standard deviation of consecutive daily log returns, multiplied by the square root of 365 and shown as a percentage. These statistics describe historical prices and are not forecasts.
