Congressional Action: CLARITY Act Clears Law Enforcement Hurdle
The National Sheriffs' Association, a major law enforcement organization, has reversed its position on the CLARITY Act, transitioning from opposition to neutrality. The group previously raised concerns that the legislation would shield cryptocurrency-related criminal activity by limiting law enforcement's consumer protection avenues.
In its revised stance, the association stated it will "step back and allow the legislative process to proceed," effectively removing organized law enforcement as an active impediment to the bill's progress in Congress. The move eliminates one of the primary institutional objections that had slowed the bill's advancement.
