Partnership Details and Integration
According to Cointelegraph, Kraken will list SoFiUSD, a new stablecoin issued by SoFi, on its platform as part of a broader strategic partnership between the two companies. The deal represents a deeper integration between cryptocurrency infrastructure and traditional banking services, with Payward, Kraken's parent entity, taking a central role in the collaboration.
The partnership grants Kraken access to SoFi's continuously operating dollar settlement network, enabling round-the-clock transaction settlement rather than the traditional business-hours-only model. Decrypt reports that Kraken Prime, the exchange's institutional trading desk, will execute trades for SoFi's cryptocurrency customers, creating a direct pipeline for digital asset trading through the banking platform.
Bridging Institutional Banking and Digital Assets
The collaboration reflects what CoinDesk characterizes as the broader industry trend of crypto and banking platforms pushing into each other's operational territory. By connecting SoFi's customer base to Kraken's liquidity and trading infrastructure, the partnership enables traditional banking customers to access cryptocurrency markets with familiar institutional guardrails.
