U.S. Legislative Push: Clarity Act at Critical Juncture
The Crypto Clarity Act has reached a critical stage with the White House now reviewing ethics text ahead of an August deadline for Senate action. Senator Cynthia Lummis has urged the chamber to act before recess, warning that delays could prevent passage. The bill represents a long-awaited effort to establish clearer regulatory jurisdiction between the SEC and CFTC over digital assets.
Political headwinds remain despite industry advocacy efforts. The Fairshake PAC, the leading crypto industry political action committee, experienced a rare campaign loss when it invested $2 million in a Detroit Democratic primary without success. However, several other PAC-backed candidates won elsewhere, suggesting a growing roster of crypto-aligned lawmakers is likely to expand in Congress regardless of the legislative outcome on Clarity.
