CFTC-CME Dispute Over Perpetual Futures Jurisdiction
Regulatory conflict has emerged between the CFTC and CME Group over the CFTC's approval of Kalshi's Bitcoin perpetual futures contract. The CFTC has asked a judge to dismiss CME's lawsuit challenging the approval, arguing that CME cannot demonstrate concrete financial harm and that the approval creates no exclusive limitation—any designated contract market, including CME, may list these products.
